A nice article today in the Free Lance-Star reflects on August 23rd, 2011, when our beautiful old church was severely damaged in the earthquake.  A year later, we’re reminded of how fortunate our church and our community was – no lives lost and so much for which to be thankful.  In the months following the earthquake, we cleaned up, rebuilt, and reflected on God’s blessings in a recovery process that brought us together and strengthened our faith.

We’re blessed to be able to report that the rebuilding process is moving very smoothly.  All of the damaged interior plaster has been removed and the masonry has been repaired.  Currently we are re-plastering and replacing hardware, and we expect to be painting soon afterward.  The estimated opening date for the repaired sanctuary is Country Church Day in early May.

More photos of the rebuilding process are available by clicking here.

Thank you so much for all of your support, warm wishes, and prayers.  God is great, and may He continue to bless you.

We’re blessed to report that the rebuilding process is well underway, thanks the support of so many. Temporary walls have been erected inside the sanctuary, the old plaster has been removed, and the process of taking down and repairing damaged sections of the walls has begun. Pictures are available on our Facebook page.  As you can see in several pictures, the plaster removal revealed a window behind the pulpit which existing prior to the 1927 construction of the Sunday School wing. Thank you again for your prayers and support!

In light of the recent earthquake damage, we’re going to scale back this year’s Faith Works Festival a bit. It will just be a nice outdoor barbecue at the church that night (10/1), starting around 5pm. Guests are still welcome, but do please let a church member know if you are coming so that we can plan food preps accordingly. Thanks!
